Some Morning Vocals: Brandy Sings ‘Eye Is On The Sparrow’

New footage has surfaced of Brandy backstage at the Best Buy Theater prepping for her sold out show when she decided to drop an impromptu acapella version of ‘His Eye Is On The Sparrow’ to warm up.  Rocking all black everything and some extra long locks, she paced back and forth while singing the song with those famous runs she’s well known for.  It’s no wonder Dawn Richard referred to Brandy as her “vocal bible”!

It is because it is racism in and of itself to have a stupid word that only one race can use, instead of making it completely wrong to say. Besides, how does it benefit African-Americans to say nigger? And why do they get the privilege of saying some word that “White people cannot use under any circumstances?” All that the use of that word does, from any person, is keep racism and segregation alive, and remind everyone that African-Americans used to be called that when they were slaves. As a white male, I am really getting tired of hearing about how African Americans have it so rough with racism. Yes, racism does still exist, but it happens between all races nowadays, and is way less prevalent than it was. If I was to go into any city and walk down any street that was predominately populated African Americans, I guarantee that they would not make me feel equal to them, and I would stand out, and they would say names or make comments. The thing is, the way they acted would not be seen as wrong by most people. Why is this? Because my ancestors treated their ancestors horribly. I recognize that and am appalled by it. But in this day and time there is absolutely nobody alive who was directly affected by slavery and nobody alive that directly participated in slavery. The only people around today that are actually racist are looked down upon, as they should be. But only if they are white. Neither I nor anyone I know has ever in any way treated an African American person as any less than ourselves or any other human being. So to use some ridiculously offensive slang that was used two-hundred years ago during slavery, and say that white people cannot use it because of our race is quite possibly the most extreme form of racism I have heard. It is ridiculous that the public and media finds things like this even remotely acceptable. The word represents nothing but racism, and promotes nothing but racism. When African Americans use the “N Word” they are reminding everyone of what they used to be called, and putting themselves down, if anything. When African Americans say that they have the sole privilege of using that word because of their race, and I cannot because of my race, that is racism. In its purest form. The solution is to not argue over whether or not African Americans have the right to use the “N word,” the solution is to either let everyone say it, which is stupid, or let no one say it.
